Enterprise Portal Solution with SharePoint

Situation:
A major Healthcare Provider's employees used traditional intranet content and document management tools, but lacked an integrated, user friendly solution for team collaboration and content management. Teams were collaborating using email and shared network drives. Professional assistance was needed on a daily basis to establish and maintain these work spaces: support costs were increasing. The company needed a powerful and flexible solution for teams to manage information, organize work and reduce overload.

Solution:
The Information services department approached EZS for an intranet solution. EZ Solutions did requirements gathering and development a comprehensive list of criteria for the solution, including better communication for employees that work in multiple locations over a wide geographical area. Several solutions were evaluated and the decision was made to implement the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. The existing IT infrastructure with Windows server 2003 and Office applications supported the decision. SharePoint was also chosen because of it ability to tightly integrate with many other applications. The company found many benefits within a short time with the implementation of the SharePoint Portal server.
